Formerly the Mayor of San Francisco, Newsom has been a longtime supporter of gay rights and recently told Larry King that President Obama's public support of same-sex marriage was something "I never thought I'd hear in my lifetime."

Steve Schmidt is a GOP Strategist and former Senior Advisor to the McCain Presidential Campaign. He made headlines this week when he said that the "CPAC convention is increasingly the Star Wars bar scene of the conservative movement." Schmidt is among the growing number of prominent Republicans who have signed onto a legal brief supporting the constitutional right of gay couples to wed.
