Why Can’t We Have Decent Elected Leaders Like Vladimir Putin?

By Bill Maher

Say what you will about Vladimir Putin (he assassinates his enemies, he’s a fascist, he’s too comfortable being topless), the guy is smart. Recently Putin sat down for an interview with an Italian newspaper that lasted two hours, ending around 2 a.m. He answered every question with a self-assurance and command of the facts that you rarely see in American politicians. Maybe it helps to be a sociopath, but the guy regularly does three-hour-plus press conferences in front of a hostile press – contrast that with Hillary Clinton’s game of hide-and seek.

And Vlad’s pretty skilled at pushing back against claims that Russia is on an expansionist tear:

“We have dismantled our bases in various regions of the world, including Cuba, Vietnam, and so on. This means that our policy in this respect is not global, offensive or aggressive.  I invite you to publish the world map in your newspaper and to mark all the US military bases on it. You will see the difference.”

Point to the beady-eyed killer!
