Racism Makes You Stupid

By Bill Maher

The Trump reelection campaign dropped a new ad on Saturday. It’s called Complicit: “Build the wall. Deport criminals. Stop illegal immigration, now. Democrats who stand in our way will be complicit in every murder committed by illegal immigrants.”

“Complicit” is a word that irks Trump, because we all laughed at Princess Ivanka last year when CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King asked her about it and she said, “I don't know what it means to be complicit, but I hope time will prove that I have done a good job and much more importantly, that my father's administration is the success that I know it will be.”

So this is one of those “no puppet, no puppet, you’re the puppet,” Trump things. I’m rubber, you’re complicit. Expect to see “complicit” a lot in tweets from now on, because it’s a vengeance word, and Trump gets fascinated with new slams like a toddler discovering his dick.

But there’s something really slippery about the logic behind the idea that Chuck Schumer is responsible for any crime committed by any illegal alien forever, as a sin of omission, for not building a wall and then deporting all eleven million already here and/or putting them in camps. The logical extension of that is that everyone is guilty of everything they don’t prevent.

A CDC study in 2014 found that only 16 percent of female murder victims were killed by strangers. Fifty-five percent of deaths were “intimate partner related.” So the answer is obvious: We have to deport all the husbands. And if Donald Trump doesn’t, he’s COMPLICIT. SAD.

Between 2000 and 2011, 349 Americans were crushed by furniture. (43,000 Americans are injured by furniture every year.) Therefore, unless Ted Cruz burns all the bookshelves, he’s COMPLICIT.

Except that’s not how culpability works. The only thing a statement like “Democrats who stand in our way (of deporting millions of people) are complicit” proves is that racism makes you stupid.
